Dalara Pastoral is a NSW based diversified agricultural business with operations near Blackville on the Liverpool Plains, Denman in the Upper Hunter Valley and Walcha in the southern portion of the New England Tableland.

Commercial Angus herds are run at Blackville and Walcha. These herds supply the Denman fattening operation with steers and cull heifers for sale to feedlots and processors. Breeding F1 Angus/Wagyu X steers and heifers from the Angus first calf heifers at Blackville and Walcha has been occurring since 2018. In 2019 the first F1X cattle were sold to a feedlot customer on the Darling Downs. Since then our customer base has diversified. After fattening on feed for approx. 400 days F1X cattle are being processed with excellent yield and marbling score results.

At the Walcha property lamb production has been steadily increasing since 2019. The sheep flock has been diversified by introducing Composite rams and ewes into the flock to improve genetics and meat quality. Target stocking rate at Walcha is in excess of 50,000 DSE.

A broadacre cropping operation at Blackville produces durum and bread wheat, chickpeas, sorghum and cotton using contemporary no till, controlled traffic farming methods. Dalara Pastoral purchased a cotton picker in 2022 to ensure picking occurs at an optimal time. Typically, supplementary contractor assistance is required to complete picking and contractors are used for harvesting wheat, sorghum and chickpeas.

The Denman operation produces a range of high-quality hay and silage. Product ranges from lucerne hay to winter and summer forage crop hay and silage. Product can be made into small square bales, large square bales and round bales. Customers include thoroughbred and sport horse breeders, produce stores and livestock producers.
